SP is also the only poly that provides Undergraduate Scholarships to support deserving and talented SP Graduates who have recently begun their full-time undergraduate studies in local autonomous universities!

Scholarship Awards

SP SCHOLARSHIPS

SP Scholarship and SP Engineering Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

Potential scholarship candidates must:

  • Be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Have strong leadership qualities and potential
  • Have no disciplinary records
  • Be ranked in the top 5% of their diploma course cohort after their year 1 Semester 1 examinations
  • Have good pre-SP academic records
  • Have good co-curricular activities records in secondary school/ ITE (or equivalent) and in SP

    - e.g. CCA grades A1 or A2 in secondary school; an A grade for ITE graduates
    - e.g. at least a BRONZE CCA grade at the end of Year 1 Semester 1 in SP

Scholarship Benefits

  • Bond-free scholarship of $4,000, tenable for the academic year awarded
  • Scholarship is renewable every year, subject to excellent academic results, strong CCA records and good conduct
  • Participation in the SPOT (Singapore Polytechnic Outstanding Talent) Programme
  • Subsidies for enrichment programmes

Terms & Conditions

  • The scholarship is tenable for the normal course duration of a 3-year, full-time diploma course.
  • Recipients of the scholarship may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, sponsorship or allowance without prior approval from SP.
  • The scholarship will be monitored and renewed every year.
  • SP Scholars and SP Engineering Scholars are expected to contribute significantly to the community while in SP, and emerge as dynamic leaders who are capable of effecting a positive change to society after they graduate. Scholars are expected to graduate with a Diploma With Merit.
  • If a scholar decides to withdraw from the polytechnic and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, SP reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.

Nomination & Shortlisting Process

  • Late September - Nomination of students for scholarships. This will be done after the release of the Year 1 Semester 1 examination results.
  • October - Only shortlisted candidates will be notified to attend the scholarship selection interview.
  • November – Scholarship Selection Interviews will be conducted. The final selection of candidates for scholarships will be done by an Interview Selection Committee. Candidates will be assessed based on the strength of their portfolio and performance in the scholarship selection interview, if shortlisted.
  • End November/ Early December - Candidates will be informed of their scholarship interview outcomes. SP reserves the right not to award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.

SP Arts and Sports Scholarship

  • Enrolled in any full-time diploma course at SP
  • Good academic results
  • Outstanding CCA records
  • Strong leadership potential and exemplary character
  • Excelled in, or contributed to, the arts scene locally or internationally (for Arts)
  • Outstanding sportsmen who have represented Singapore at the combined school or higher level (for Sports)

Tenure and Value of Scholarship

  • An annual sponsorship of $4,000, renewable over 3 years

Tenure and Value of Award

  • A one-time sponsorship of $1,000, non-renewable

Application

  • Application will be in October each year

Selection Process

  • Short-listed scholarship applicants will be required to attend an interview session with the selection panel.

SP Undergraduate Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

Potential scholarship recipients must meet the following criteria:

  • Be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Graduated from SP with a Diploma with Merit
  • Possess strong co-curricular activity (CCA) records
  • Demonstrate good leadership qualities and potential
  • No disciplinary records
  • Successfully matriculated at a full-time undergraduate degree programme at any of the six local autonomous universities* as of the award year

*The six local autonomous universities are Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Scholarship Benefits

  • Bond-free
  • Full scholarship award of $30,000 will be given out in three tranches of $10,000 each across three academic years of undergraduate studies

Terms & Conditions

  • The Scholarship is renewable every academic year, on condition that the Scholar maintains a record of good academic performance and conduct
  • Scholarship recipients may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, sponsorship, or allowance without prior approval from SP
  • If a Scholar decides to withdraw from the university and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, SP reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the Scholar.

  • Late September – Application opens for SP graduates freshly matriculated at a local autonomous university.

BCA-Industry Built Environment Diploma Scholarship/ Sponsorship

Eligibility: New students in their 1st year of studies in Polytechnic. Enrolled in one of the courses listed here.
 Criteria:
  • Excellent academic results
  • Excellent CCA records
 Award:

Scholarship covers full course fees and $900 monthly allowance. Locals will serve a 1- year bond for every year of Scholarship whereas foreigners will serve a 2-year bond for every year of Scholarship

Sponsorship covers $7,000 annual allowance which comes with a 1-year bond for every year of Sponsorship

Home Team Diploma Sponsorship (Polytechnic)

Eligibility:

Singapore citizens only

For students already studying in SP, or new students who have managed to secure a place to study a full-time diploma course in SP

Criteria:
  • Good GCE 'O' level/ NITEC/ Higher NITEC results and CCA records
  • Medically and physically fit
Quantum:

Tuition and compulsory fees sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

A monthly allowance of $1,000 credited into the student's account.

Study bonus of $1,200 per semester if the student passes all modules in that semester.

 

Upon graduation, award recipients may have a choice of pursuing a career with either the Home Affairs Uniformed Services (HUS) , i.e. Singapore Police Force (SPF), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Prison Service and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) or Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA)

PAP Community Foundation Study Award

Eligibility:Singaporeans
Criteria:
  • Actively involved in CCAs/ leadership/ community service activities (preferably holding leadership positions in SP, grassroots organisations or self-help groups)
  • Good academic results
  • In need of financial help (* family monthly per capita income MPCI must not exceed $850)

Quantum:

S$2,700 per year

Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) Bursaries and Merit Awards

Eligibility:Muslims under the age of 35 who are Singapore citizens
Criteria:

Household income of the applicant must not exceed $4,000 per month

PUB Engineering Scholarship

Eligibility:Year 1, 2 and 3 students with excellent results and CCA records from the following engineering faculties:

Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Computer Engineering
Criteria:

Singaporean and PR

Achieved outstanding results in their O Level or ITE courses.
For Yr 2 and 3, attainment of a GPA score of 3.7 and above.
Good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA)
Not in receipt of any other bursary/scholarship awards
Final year students must do an internship with PUB, during which PUB will evaluate their suitability for a job or the Singapore Sustainability Scholarship
Quantum:Sponsorship on yearly basis -- Student will have to meet min. GPA criteria of 3.7 to be renewed for the next year.
Bond-Free scholarship.
Full sponsorship of the tuition fees and provision of book & laptop allowances. (Laptop allowance available for Year 1 students only).

Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP) Award

 Eligibility:All ITE graduates who have enrolled in a full-time Diploma are eligible for the LKY-STEP and TESS. 
 Criteria:
  • Singaporean and PR
  • Have achieved outstanding results in their ITE courses, i.e. attainment of a GPA score of 3.5 and above
  • Possess good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA)
  • Not in receipt of any bursary/scholarship award (for LKY-STEP)
  • Not financially sponsored by employers
 Quantum:LKY-STEP
Waiver of Polytechnic tuition fees for the duration of the diploma course and one-time cash quantum of $3,500
